What No Algorithm Can Touch

The Irreplaceable Gift of Church

“For where two or three are gathered in my name, there am I in the midst of them.” (Matthew 18:20, RSV)

We live in a world overflowing with information. At any hour of the night, artificial intelligence can answer our questions, and search engines can give us endless content.

But as wonderful as technology can be, there is a deep, human hunger that a screen simply cannot satisfy.

Our church is not an information delivery system. What we offer at our best—and what no search engine or AI chatbot can ever replicate—is real, holy, human-divine connection.

Think about what makes our church family so special:

True Biblical Community: We are a people who know your name, your history, and your struggles—and we show up anyway. We are the hands and feet of Jesus, sharing meals together, praying over one another in hospital rooms, and standing shoulder-to-shoulder in times of grief.

Embodied Presence: There is no substitute for looking someone in the eye. Whether it’s a pastor, a small group leader, or a lifelong friend, having someone sit across from you to hold the weight of your burdens without rushing to the next task is a rare and sacred gift.

Personalized Care: The world offers generic insights about doubt, grief, or hardship. The church offers friends who know your specific story and can speak into your life with wisdom born from shared experience.

Joyful, Real Worship: When we gather to sing and pray, it is powerful because our lives are intertwined. We celebrate freedom together, knowing that the joy in the room is real because the struggles we’ve overcome together were real.

Tools can help us do things faster; they can never replace the heart of our mission.

As we look to the future, let’s remember what truly matters. If someone could get all the biblical information they wanted by spending an hour online, what would they be missing?

They would be missing you. They would be missing us. Jesus said, “For where two or three are gathered in my name, there am I in the midst of them.” They would be missing the incarnational Spirit of Christ, through the warmth of a handshake or a hug, the comfort of a shared prayer, and the beautiful reality of Christ’s love alive in a community of believers.

Thank you for being a part of this family, for investing in real relationships, and for making our church a sanctuary of genuine connection. The tools we use will always change, but our mission to love and walk with one another remains forever.

See you on Sunday,
Pastor William Mitchell
