Fall at First Christian Church
Come — Invite, Worship, Fellowship
As summer winds down, we don’t just look forward to cooler weather—we look forward to the joy of being together again in church!
Fall is a wonderful time to invite old friends you haven’t seen in a while, who may have drifted away, as well as to welcome new friends who may have been thinking, “I want to connect somewhere spiritually.”
Worship is more than a service—it’s a place, a community, where hearts are encouraged, faith is strengthened, and people are reminded they belong.
And Christian fellowship is where faith becomes real in everyday relationships.
This fall, let’s take seriously the instruction from Scripture: “Not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the day approaching.” (Hebrews 10:25, RSV)
That means we don’t simply attend—we encourage. We don’t just sit through—we welcome. We don’t only grow personally—we help others grow by making room at the communion table and in the church seats.

Invitation is an act of love!
Whether someone is returning after time away or walking in for the first time, an invitation can be the difference between staying on the outside and stepping into belonging.
This fall, consider inviting:
This fall, consider inviting:
- a neighbor you’ve chatted with but never brought to church
- a friend who used to worship with you
- a family member who’s been curious
- a co-worker who is new
- someone who seems alone and might need community
What to expect
At First Christian Church, you’ll find worship that centers on God’s presence, and fellowship that helps people feel known.
Come for worship—then stay connected by attending Bible Study on Wednesday at 6 pm or Sunday School at 10:40 AM on Sunday.
Whether you’re bringing someone who’s familiar with church or introducing someone completely new, your presence and your kindness matter.

A simple challenge for this season
This fall, choose one person to invite—and do it with prayer and joy. You can say something as simple as:
“I’d really love for you to come worship with me this Sunday.”
“We’d be glad to see you—come join us.”
“There’s always a place for you at First Christian Church.”
Let’s help one another keep meeting, keep encouraging, and keep inviting—especially as the days move forward.
We can’t wait to worship and fellowship with you this fall at First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Atchison, KS.

Pastor William Mitchell, M.Div.
